Transformers / Metal Documentarys
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007It is raining like I have not seen in a long time right now in New Jersey. There is an insane lightening storm outside right now, which I suppose can substitute for the lack of fireworks that I didn’t get to see because of the rain. Happy fourth!

Lately I have not been looking at a lot of photography or even taking a lot of pictures. (both things I’m not proud of) Instead I have been watching a lot of movies and shooting a minimal amount, though I feel as though that is about to change. Transformers, one of the most hyped of movies of the summer, actually delivered and far surpassed all the hype it has been getting. I am not going to spoil anything because it is just too damn good to want to spoil. If you like any action movies ever, or even if you don’t, go see it. There are some of the most amazing scenes I have seen in a long time. Like Evil Dead meets The Matrix good. (if that even makes sense) I saw Transformers twice already and it has only been out for two days. Both times were great and the two and a half hours totally fly by.

Another movie that I totally fell in love with is The Decline Of Western Civilization. There are three of them and none of them are available on DVD yet and are somewhere in the sixty dollar range on Amazon.com, but I have for all of you a link! Just search the above title and they will all come up.

I somehow found the UK version of google video and they had all three of them streaming. The first is a documentary on the punk scene via 1979-80 and is the only one I have not watched yet. The second is about the hair metal scene in the mid-80’s and meets up with bands Aerosmith, Megadeath, and good ol’ Ozzy. Penelope Spheeris (the director) meets the artists behind the scenes and then goes on to show them live on stage. I personally just love to know the history of metal and find it fascinating to see how it all blew up in the 80’s. The third movie is all about the mid-late-90’s punk scene I believe in LA but I could be wrong about that. She finds the “street punks” in the area and invests a lot of time going to their parties and the shows with all these kids. It is amazing how they let the crew into their lives and shows what it is like to become and then live in the streets as a punk. It is like a real life version of SLC Punk. (which I also suggest)
Hope everyone had a nice 4th. Go see Transformers!
